Cabutra has established itself as a fiscal sponsor organization. This means we can offer our legal and tax-exempt status to U.S. based groups/projects that are not established as a tax-exempt organization (don't have their 501(c)(3) status), or to non-government organizations or projects in other countries.
With our "fiscal sponsor" status, we can provide your project or group the credibility of being part of a 501(c)(3) organization, which would allow you to receive tax deductible contributions from U.S. donors. We simply need to confirm that your project or group is engaged in activities related to Cabutra's mission - the sustainability of natural and human communities.
Or, you may want to test drive your idea or concept through an existing organization (like Cabutra) before formally establishing yourself as a separate entity.
As a fiscal sponsor, we can provide your group or project with a number of important administrative functions:
➢ receive and administer charitable contributions on your behalf.
➢ bookkeeping and other financial management services.
➢ other administrative functions.
As with most fiscal sponsors, Cabutra charges a nominal fee for our sponsorship services. To help cover our costs, we ask for 9% of the funds we administer for you (grants, donations, etc.). And we are happy to negotiate a fee for other financial or administrative services we can provide as a fiscal sponsor (well below the 15-30% of annual revenue a typical nonprofit spends on administrative expenses).
